Dear Birth Parents:
It is hard for us to imagine the thoughts and feelings that you must be having right now. This is a tremendously difficult decision, but we want you to know how much we truly admire your strength and selflessness. Those are both characteristics that we will try to instill in our adopted child. We hope to have the opportunity to meet you and thank you in person soon.
We chose an open adoption because we believe that it is the best thing for the child. It is our hope that an open adoption will help our adopted child develop a strong sense of identity rooted in both his/her birth and adoptive families. We are excited to have our adoptive child know you while he/she grows up.
Our family began the day we were married and committed our lives to one another. We always wanted to add children to our family but found out that it was not going to be possible for us to have biological children. The decision to adopt was fairly easy since we both feel strongly that it is love and devotion that create a family not biology. Our daughter Ophelia was born into our family through an open adoption in 2012 and we are so excited to be growing our family again through adoption.
It is our dream to raise happy, healthy children who see the world as a place with limitless possibilities. Thank you so much for considering us! We hope to be meeting you very soon.
With much love,
Peter, Stacey, and Ophelia
