The DIRA Scholarship was founded in 2021 by Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains donors to establish scholarships to accredited technical education and certificate programs to help further independence and stability for refugees and asylees in the service area of Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains. A total of five $2,000 scholarships will be awarded annually.
Applicants must be a current or former client of Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains and be enrolled in an approved accredited technical education degree or certificate program.
An application for the scholarship can be obtained from a Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains case manager and includes an application form, a short essay about the applicant’s goals and how the scholarship will a make difference in the life the applicant. Watch for announcements for applications to open January 2024.
Applications received by the deadline will be reviewed by a committee of five members including a minimum of one (1) Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains program staff (1) Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains development staff and three (3) volunteer committee members. The selection process will include scores on quality of application, need, interview and commitment to completion.
Awards will be made annually in April to allow for Fall enrollment. An awards ceremony will be held with recipients and family members invited to attend. Scholarships will be paid directly to the program and not the recipient. If an applicant is not able to complete the course, any refunds will be returned to Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains.
The DIRA Scholarship is now closed. Please watch for announcements for applications to open in January 2024.
