Adoption Tax Credit to Be Eliminated Under New Bill

Categories: News

A bill currently under review in the House, contains a provision which would eliminate the Adoption Tax Credit. Eliminating this tax credit could negatively impact the future of thousands of adoptions; many of which are foster care to adoption situations. Last year, approximately 30% of the children who left Lutheran Family Services foster care homes for any reason, were adopted by their foster parents (71).  The number one reason children leave foster care is to be reunited with their parents.
